About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a respected legal services provider, for an experienced Casualty EL/PL File Handler to join their Claims Management team. This role involves managing a varied caseload of Employer’s Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims, primarily fast-track with potential multi-track cases up to £100,000, handled on a non-delegated authority basis.
The ideal candidate will bring a forensic and analytical approach to liability issues and demonstrate strong legal acumen in managing complex claims from initial strategy through to trial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of EL/PL claims, including fast-track and multi-track cases.
  • Assess primary and secondary liability and set strategic direction for each claim.
  • Review and analyse evidence including witness statements, medical records, and inspection reports.
  • Conduct investigations, disclosure, and case management conferences.
  • Instruct Counsel, investigators, and medical experts.
  • Draft legal documents including counter schedules, costs schedules, and pre-trial reports.
  • Attend conferences and trials with Counsel; prepare trial bundles.
  • Handle CRU appeals and ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience handling EL/PL claims and litigation.
  • Strong advocacy, communication, and client care skills.
  • High level of analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet targets, manage deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in IT and case management systems.
  • Resilient, self-motivated, and capable of working within shared values frameworks.
